Cascadia As it stands today

Cascadia

Population:
12,504,307
(Population as of 2015 the combined populations of Idaho, Washington and Oregon is 12,854,258.But after the troubles this is what remains. Many people tried to go back to home states, or died as a result of conflict, or a break down in services)

GDP:
702.817 billion
(based off of prewar numbers)

Government:
The official type of government in Cascadia is parliamentary republic.

In Cascadia, there is an elected parliament, called the Parliament of Cascadia, consisting of two houses, the National Council of Cascadia (upper house), and the National Assembly of Cascadia (lower house). The leading coalition of political parties in the National Assembly selects the Prime Minister of Cascadia, and forms the ministers of the government. The elected President of Cascadia appoints secretaries of the government, one for each ministry. National Assembly members hold their seats by the members of their electoral districts for two years, or until Parliament is dissolved, while National Council members serve for four years. The President is elected every four years, along with every National Council election.

Most of Cascadia's government offices are located in the city of Olympia. The offices consist of many buildings, including a manor for the prime minister, a Presidential house, the parliament building, buildings for each of the ministries, the archive building, CIA (Cascadian Investigation Agency) headquarters, CEPA (Cascadian Environmental Protection Agency) headquarters, and many more buildings for various government agencies.
There is also an ministry dedicated to First nations peoples affairs. With the Break from the old Union new treaties had to be signed granting many of the same rights and privileges many of the people still enjoyed along with a permanent seat in both houses of parliament
(this has lead many to complain that a group of people that make up barely 2 percent of the population to have a disproportionate voice in national affairs)

The official language of Cascadia: is English, but allowances will and are made to none native English speakers.

Religion: No official state religion "Separation of church and state" is still practiced.

Social services:
Universal State healthcare is provided by the state, but a person can opt out of the tax by paying for privet personal health care.

State provided schooling is provided k-12 with optional vocational high schools also being available.
Privet schools are also available.

Universal housing is also provided.
This might be a one room apartment with a full bath and small kitchen but its a roof over your head, with some privacy.
(Now if the person wants to stay in the housing is up to them. And if they want to destroy the place, they might be up on criminal charges or spend some time in a mental ward.)

Employment is considered a right and privilege of all Cascadian's.
(That's why shady guys still pumping your gas and whipping your windows at Gas stations)

Money:
Cascadia uses the Cascadian Dollar (C-note), Which is currently set at .80 cents to the old US dollar.

Largest Cities. Seattle, Portland, Spokane.

Cascadian Military:

Despite the views of the Cascadia movements founders, when you start a nation in a time of war you need an army. The military is still with us today.

Early History
The first members of the Cascadian Military where comprised of the old Oregon, Washington, Idaho and Montana guard. And remnants of the active and reserve elements of the US Army, Navy and Air force.
With the succession crises and other deployments many units of the old active force where scattered around the world doing real world missions. Leaving mostly cadre or logistic units behind. The formation of Cascadia and fall of the US left many of the old active solders lost for what action to take.
With some thing like one third of all solders, sailors, Airmen wanting to head back to their home of recorded.

Their actions ranged from what some would consider noble.

The commander of Maelstrom Air Force Base ordered all the missiles to be disassembled and then ordered the silos filed with concreate. And then tried to make sure all his airmen made it as close to there home destination as possible. While Brash this did stop any accidents of madmen getting ahold of the weapons in the short term.

To some what ennoble. Examples. Almost two flights of f18 Groowler pilots and a few trans and refuel planes to the confusion as an opportunity to take off with there jets back home. After that all aircraft where under grounded until the pilots could be sorted out.

Or examples of Members for the old Idaho 116th taking their Bradly and M1 tanks to Deseret.

Navy is the hardiest part.. What do you do with 3 super Carriers that you can not afforded to use or maintain? Do you Sale them? Mouth ball em?

  1. For Carriers, I would recommend....
    Sell one
Partially Mothball one (60-90 day re-activation)
Keep one active to maintain the capability

In WWII it was established that 2 Carriers had 4 times the capability of one. This had to do with how many planes could stay on CAP and turnaround for strike times.

So, WHEN (not if) the Ruskies make a play for Alaska, you can contest the seas and skies.

Yes, the real life economics on this are very shaky. Even keeping 1 carrier active has been beyond the capability of the entire UK, but it's an imagi-nation, and selling one carrier is a nod to the reality of the expense. Keeping 2 would be fun(...and fun is better!)

    1. Yeah the economics is the issue. It is a fantasy but I want to still ground it slightly in realty. Becase a carrier also comes with it air complament and supporting ships.
A very huge investment. In manpower and money. More so then the large ground compliant The country fields. The only justification for keeping at least one in my mind is that the world is still realigning itself after the collapse of American hegemony.
Cuase lets see, a normal Carrier strike group has
60-90 aircraft. 1 cruiser (air Defense) 2-4 anti-ship/submarine Destroyers or Frigates. At least one supply/tender ship and maybe even a sub or two.
And lets not forget that the Puget sound has 3 SeaWolf attack subs and 10 OHIO class ballistic missile subs. Hug money sink.
And then I am trying to figure out what will Japan do with the huge amount of US military equipment and personal still in Japan? Send them and their kit home? Keep the planes and ships and send the Yankees home? Use them as a foreign navel legion?

    2. But What you suggested is what I have been thinking.
The Navy is set up around one Gerald Ford class carrier group with a Nimitz mothballed. The last one is sold to Australia. There will be one Ticonderoga class cruiser, the two Arleigh Burke DD.
keeping the Seawolfs and Supply ships. And a few of the ballistic missile subs are being scarped or converted over to attack/infiltration/drone carrier subs.

    3. And to save time I found out that the USS Michigan and OHIO have already been converted over to conventional Cruise missile submarines.
Convert a one over to be a Drone carrier. Another to be completely disarmed and used for a science testing and exploration vessel. And to finish it off, two more have their crew complement slashed, have their missiles removed and get turned into Special warfare transportation subs.
