Very nice remembrance. I had a Drill Sgt (1980) who was in it - wore a 2nd ID "combat patch" on his right shoulder. At the time, I thought that he was way too young to have been in the "War." Found out later about this second conflict. In fact, I knew a court reporter who wore the same patch. He told me he was prior Infantry and "in country" at the time and most folks were awarded the wearing of the patch.
I learned about this conflict talking to one of my friends dads a few years ago. I had known about the attempt on the Blue house and the USS Pueblo. But did not realize it was part of a greater conflict until meeting him. Told me about a few quick shoot outs along the DMZ and, and of a few unauthorized preventive actions across the boarder. (nothing to crazy, mostly returning landmines back to their owners and shooting up loud speakers)

Ggreat video- would make for som,e interesting games. WW2 Soviets with SMGs versus Vietnam US shouldn't be too hard to pull together....
ReplyDeleteCheers,
Pete.
That's what I was thinking. Probably snag some of the Warlord games North Koreans.
