Yes they were. The British figured it was better to have a decently well armed neutral nation on their western flank. So shifted a lot of equipment to them. Their Armored force never got to be to large, but they had at least a Regiments worth of Bren Carriers. Mostly used for gun and material transport. They did use their own uniforms, in a grey green color.
Fascinating. Were those troops of the Irish Republic? I'm guessing they were, in British equipment.
